We met with a local vinyl wrap maker to produce a unique and custom branded design for our back windshield. Make sure you give us a quick wave or honk if you see our web branded whip cruising around town.
talonX: Flawless Design
Hey everyone, we’re super pleased and excited to announce our anniversary today! We’re very proud of the growth and and all the projects we’ve worked on and created over the past year. We appreciate all of our client’s business and their varying acceptance of our crazy design ideas! As we move toward the end of 2013 and into 2014 we’ve got some ambitious plans to grow from the world of purely digital design into print and other forms of media. We’ve already started tinkering with some very cool ideas and have delivered a few large scale projects that are outside our standard media realm. At this stage we’re ready to evolve and move into a full blown digital agency capable of handling everything from web to advertising to video. If any of our previous client liked our web work (there’s got to be at least one!) we’d be thrilled if […]
Logo Design: The Missing Piece in your Branding
Without a doubt logos are some of the most commonly overrated and underrated elements in branding. This apparent paradox arises partially due to the fact that a logos are perhaps the one of the oldest forms of communication in human existence and have therefore had many twists and turns and ups and downs throughout history as effective, annoying, powerful, meaningful, overused, abused, misrepresented and reused. What?! Says the reader. Logos haven’t been around since caveman times -– there are no stick drawings of Neanderthals developing carpal tunnel syndrome while agonizingly etching out a logo of a wooden club in Adobe Illustrator. This is ridiculous. Let’s analyze what we mean by logo; a symbol attached to a meaning. In this context, logos have been around for thousands of years. Stick drawings in their own sense are symbols attached to a meaning. A stick man holding a stick spear has a meaning […]

Designing Objects that Tell Stories
Here’s a look into some of the elements that inspires us when designing whether it be websites, logos or animations. Design is more than simple math, placement and color coordination; it needs to tell a story. This talk is presented by Yves Behar originally on the TED in 2008. An oldie but a goodie.
WordPress Tutorials (FREE!)
As a helpful resource for some of our clients who are newer to WordPress we’d love to point you in the direction of some of the free lessons wordpress.org has supplied. Since we customize the content management system (CMS) of the sites we create not all the lessons will be applicable or helpful but if you’ve ever wondered how to add new pictures, update pages or fire off some blog updates, this is the resource for you. Of course we will always be ready and willing to help you along the way but just in case we’re stuck and locked in the back trunk of a suspicious vehicle and haven’t yet MacGyver’d our way out, feel free to refer to this link or simply Google search: “How to do <insert your necessary action> here in WordPress” and there will be a world of free information to help you!
Animation & Video: The Future of the Web
As some of you may know, talonX produces cool little animations or short videos for logo stings, explainers/introductions and promotions. Most of our video displays are produced in Adobe After Effects but we have been known to branch out to a few other forms of media and have been in collaboration with some Chicago based companies to produce introductions for longer online videos. While these are outside the typical realm of web design the reason we’ve opted to learn, create and produce these animations is because because the nature of the online world is changing. While static sites will always have their place and be functional for many situations, consumers are leaning toward the motion and interest produced by videos.
If a picture is worth 1,000 words, a video is worth 1,000 pictures.
When someone lands on a website and your product or service offering is not abundantly clear to […]
